Our Story

Casia and Jacob's story began on March 31st 2023, during an inter-university caving event called NCHECC at Bullpot Farm, Yorkshire, which neither of them thought would be out of the ordinary. But there they met and hit it off instantly, sharing conversation and laughter throughout. But when the weekend came to an end. They said their goodbyes and walked away without exchanging contact details, both wishing they had found a way to stayed connected (and Casia certainly doesn't let Jacob forget he did not ask for her number).

Determined to reconnect, they took to social media to search for each other. But there was one small hiccup... Jacob didn't quite know how to spell Casia's name, giving Casia the upper hand, and she managed to find him first. On May 9th, 2023 she sent him a message, and it all went from there.

Their first date was on May 13th 2023. They started at Newcastle castle, then spent the next four hours strolling around Newcastle, caught up in conversation and laughter. From that time, they grew closer and closer, beginning their life of little and big adventures together. After that first date, they saw each other every free moment between Jacob's work and Casia's study in Glasgow. But on January 11th 2024, life pulled them apart temporarily as Casia had to return to Indonesia.

Despite the distance, their love only grew stronger. On August 24th 2024, Jacob got on his big boy trousers and travelled to Indonesia for the first time to meet Casia and her family and spend a few precious weeks with her. It was a trip filled with as much fun and travel as possible, which made the eventual goodbye even harder.

But no need to worry! On the April 18th, 2025, Jacob returned to Indonesia with something special in mind. He respectfully asked Casia's father for his blessing to marry her. Then, at midnight on the April 26th, after a full day's adventuring around Lombok, Jacob got down on one knee and asked Casia that all important question. She said yes - with tears, smiles, and for some reason, references to baked beans.

From caves in Yorkshire to late-night calls across oceans, Casia and Jacob's story hasn't been all that straight forward, but they've made it one of adventure, laughter, patience, and deep connection. It's the kind of story that might have begun semi-underground, but always knew it was heading for the stars.

Now, they're ready to write the next chapter, hand in hand, for life.
